Roelof Wittink, CEO of I-CE, has received the Leadership Award 2010 for cycling promotion at the Velo City Global Conference 2010 in Copenhagen. The award is a recognition of his dedication to international co-operation and his expertise on cycling as a means of sustainable transport and poverty reduction.

The award was granted by the Danish Cycling Embassy, dedicated, like I-CE, to international transfer of expertise on integrating cycling into policy.
The award comes at a time when several ministries in the Netherlands are displaying an interest in international co-operation on urban transport. In a recent parliamentary debate on cycling policy various political parties, as well as transport minister Eurlings, stated that the efforts of I-CE in developing countries should be continued. In addition minister Eurlings has invited a Dutch-Brazilian consortium headed by I-CE to explore how the Netherlands may implement a request for support by Rio de Janeiro local authorities. Rio de Janeiro intends to formulate a mobility plan for guidelines on a sustainable transport policy in preparation for the 2014 Football World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games.
