In Bentwoud, a new recreational area near Zoetermeer, Dienst Landelijk Gebied of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality has experimented with six types of semi-metalled materials last year. Four of the six types of material proved to be satisfactory. They withstood the various weather conditions in combination with a quite heavy use. Remarkably, the cheapest material, concrete granulate, proved to be one of the best. In 2005 Natuurmonumenten constructed five experimental strips in the Dwingelderveld National Park. Eventually a slightly improved version of KoMex was preferred.
