Villo! is the name of the new rental bike system in Brussels. At 180 train stations 2500 bicycles should be available shortly.

Villo! is a contraction of the French 'ville' (city) and 'velo' (bicycle). It is the successor to the slightly disappointing Brussels Cyclocity project. A complicated rental procedure, limited availability and bicycles that were too heavy are thought to be the reasons the 250 bicycles have not been used very much since 2006. Villo! is run by JCDecaux, the advertising agency currently active in this field in 17 cities. The bicycles are lighter, no longer have solid tyres and are provided with seven speeds. Initially 50 rental stations will be located at distances of some 450 metres, but this is to grow soon to 180 stations with approximately 2500 bicycles. Later the numbers are to double. A ticket for a single day will be € 1,50,-. A year’s subscription € 30, -. The first 30 minutes are free, the second 30 minutes cost € 1,-. Each additional 30 minute period costs € 2,-
