The roadside assistance programme for cyclists and riders of light weight motorcyclists of the Dutch Touring Club ANWB is much in demand. Since the introduction of this service for two-wheelers last spring, 70,000 people subscribed.

The ANWB scouts had a special training to help stranded cyclists. They can provide on-the-spot assistance in 85 percent of all cases. In the remaining cases, cyclist and vehicle are brought somewhere else, such as to a bike repair shop.
In the future the ANWB will also offer this service to youths aged 18 and under. Currently only people 18 and above can become a member of the ANWB. Trials show that many parents want their child to be helped when stranded with their bicycle or motorbike.
