France requires bicycle parking at residences

10-11-2010

As of 2012 new residences in France are to be equipped with a covered or safe place to park a bicycle. Charge facilities for electric bicycles will be required as well.

The new legislation is part of the Grenelle 2, a comprehensive environmental law passed this summer by the French parliament. In addition to bicycle parking facilities the law also requires providing charge facilities for electric bicycles and cars. These charge facilities will be required in existing industrial buildings at a later stage.
