Drachten, Drift/De Kaden, shared-space-intersection. The intersection Drift and De Kaden is an example of shared space in the purest sense. Despite a quite high traffic volume hardly any measures have been taken to regulate traffic. 
 
 

Pernis, Vondelingenweg, rolling bike path. In Pernis cyclists have to overcome a height difference of 8 metres when crossing the harbour railway line. In order to encourage cyclists local authorities in Rotterdam have constructed a rolling bike path in 2003. The rolling bike path cost 2,25 million Euro. Funding for the rolling bike path was provided by the Rotterdam authorities and the Rotterdam metropolitan district.

Zaanstad, train station neighbourhood, De Buiging. Local authorities in Zaanstad have ambitious plans for developing the town centre and train station neighbourhoods: a new city hall, new library, homes, office buildings, shops, etc. Even restoration of a filled-in canal to its former glory. A bicycle bridge across the railway and a provincial road is an integral part of the plans.
