Recreational and tourist traffic

There is a specific organisation in the Netherlands to promote and facilitate recreational cycling, Landelijk Fietsplatform SLF and Landelijk Fietsplatform fights for easy to reach bicycle routes (Landelijk Fietsplatform knokt voor bereikbare fietsroutes). Among other things, this platform has listed many facts about recreational cycling, which has economic relevance as well: Recreational cycling. Policy measures for this type of cycling mainly concern signposting and route determination. Well-known and widely used are the long-distance cycling routes for overnight cycling trips: Use of national cycling routes (LF routes). Specifically for daytrips many tourist regions have been implementing a junction signposting system over the past few years: Regional bicycle route networks.
