Parking systems

In the nineteen nineties extensive studies have been conducted into the quality of bicycle parking systems provided by manufacturers and importers. At that time there were numerous different types of racks and stands, but mostly similar in the low quality provided. Much has changed since, particularly thanks to the creation of Fietsparkeur: a hallmark for bicycle parking systems with requirements on ease of use, chances of damage and theft prevention ( Standards for bicycle parking systems Fietsparkeur); later the requirements have been slightly revised: Fietsparkeur updated!). The website of Fietsersbond displays all systems that have obtained Fietsparkeur: Survey of bicycle stands with Fietsparkeur (Overzicht van fietsrekken met Fietsparkeur).

Quite a lot of technological innovations can be distinguished in bicycle parking systems. In the simplest  category- but what is more important well-tried and well-performing - the multi-level racks with telescopic grooves are worth mentioning. In addition there are also mainly automatic compact parking facilities - thereby providing security at the same time. Bicycles are taken in and returned automatically and compactly stored. See a.o. the Bicycle mill (Fietsmolen) and the Bikedispenser (Eindhoven experiments in bicycle parking) .
