Cycling as long as possible

Unie KBO and Fietsersbond want to stimulate the elderly to use the bicycle as long as they can do so safely and want to contribute to a situation where the elderly may continue to use their bicycles. To this purpose Unie KBO and Fietsersbond have conducted this study into the perception of cycling, in an effort to determine the factors that may make cycling a more agreeable experience and those that may impede cycling now or in future. What is the opinion of the elderly themselves? Do they consider the bicycle to be the ideal mode of transport or do - with increasing age - the disadvantages begin to outweigh the advantages? What reasons do the elderly themselves provide for using their bicycles less or even quitting cycling altogether? In any case, a striking result is that respondents feel in much better health in comparison to the general population in the Netherlands.
